Tom Adkins is a seasoned technologist and political organizer with a long history of helping social sector organizations discover and implement technology solutions.

What makes Tom unique is his experience and comfort in a variety of roles; he is a computer programmer who is as comfortable chairing a meeting or organizing a canvass as he is architecting the data layer.

Before founding Build Together, Tom served as the Chief Technology Officer of Chicago-based VoterHub, a combination voterfile and analytics platform seeking to assist progressive causes and campaigns.

From 2007 to 2016, Tom ran Open Organize, a firm that provided strategic consulting and custom development services to clients in the labor and environmental movements, as well as the educational, governmental, and non-profit sectors.

During this period, Tom founded or helped to launch several non-profits, including DCASE, Climate Lab, Banyan Project, and Food Tank.

Tom also has extensive experience working and volunteering for special education and charter schools serving students facing extraordinary challenges in the Washington DC area, including serving on the Board and Executive Committee of The Next Step Public Charter School.
